Talk to Someone.
Tell them what you know about child prostitution, pornography and trafficking. This is the first step but in some ways the hardest one. Child abuse and exploitation exists in the shadows, out of the sight of good people who want to do away with it but who find it difficult to talk about. The only way to ensure we can stop it is by acknowledging the scope and impact of commercial sexual exploitation of children. Talking about it is the first step to ending it.
Give.
Click here to make a donation to ECPAT-USA to help protect all children’s right to grow up free from abuse and exploitation.
Hold an ECPAT-USA fundraiser at your home.
Decide on an amount of money to charge, provide dinner, brunch or snacks. Distribute ECPAT-USA information about the commercial sexual exploitation of children. At the event, encourage people to take other action steps listed here.
Sponsor a Panel Discussion.
Iinvite a guest speaker to your church, club, school or other venue to talk about some aspect of the commercial sexual exploitation of children. In some cases, ECPAT-USA can provide a speaker or identify people in your area who might be willing to speak. Find out who owns the airport in your city and ask the administrator to post signs in departure lounges informing all passengers that it is against the law to sexually exploit children everywhere. Under the U.S. PROTECT Act, sex tourists can be prosecuted after their return to the U.S. for exploiting a child in another country. Many people don’t know about it or what to do if they suspect it is going on. Contact ECPAT-USA to find out more information.
