Private Sector Engagement
The Private Sector Intern will work with our Director of Private Sector Engagement to support ECPAT-USA’s efforts in engaging and supporting companies in the child protection. Most efforts will be focused on engaging the travel and tourism industry.
Responsibilities:
    • Expand and maintain presence at industry events
    • Finalize best practice guide for travel industry to mitigate trafficking
    • Track media stories on business response to child trafficking, tourism related social responsibility initiatives, and ECPAT-USA
    • Create and design informational and promotional materials
    • Develop content for ECPAT-USA’s website
    • Create database of media contacts and organizations interested in the initiative- engage contacts
    • Draft, edit, and update press release, fact sheets, one-pagers etc.
    • Field and prioritize calls of inquiry
    • Assist with follow-up to projects
    Required Qualifications:
      • Master's degree (in progress) in human rights related field
      • Strong commitment to children’s rights and business principles
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to balance multiple priorities
      • Eagerness to be creative and take initiative on new ideas and projects
      • Comfortable speaking in public and on the phone
      • Can lead and organize teams of volunteers
      Preferred Qualifications:
        • General knowledge of children’s rights and business principles
        • Experience in corporate engagement
        • Past experience working on trafficking issues
Marketing and Communications
Job Description:
ECPAT USA seeks a dynamic, creative, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for well-known non-profit organization.
Our intern would:
    • Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletter
    • Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories
    • Designing flyers, graphics, e-vites, infographics and other marketing material for general awareness raising, major events, and fundraisers
    • Update/improve the ECPAT USA website, branding and social media presence
    • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
    • Assist with the creation, production and marketing of Public Service Announcements
    Qualifications:
      • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
      • Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Graphic Design or Public Relations)
      • Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
      • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired
      • Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus
      • An effective communicator, both written and oral
      • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
      • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
      • Enthusiasm for our mission to protect every child’s basic human right to grow up free from the threat of sexual exploitation and trafficking
      The internship program combines an educational approach to the study of human trafficking with on-the-ground practice in such areas as organizational and nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, and research. Interns are provided opportunities to shadow speaking events, coalition meetings, and travel for events when appropriate.

Advocacy Journey Internship Opportunity:

ECPAT-USA is seeking a motivated and qualified individual to assist us in the promotion and marketing of our Advocacy Journeys; a new initiative that raises awareness about the issue of trafficking, along with funds for ECPAT-USA’s programs. In this position the intern will be responsible for working with our partner and socially responsible tour operator Altruvistas. The intern will research appropriate travel industry publications, travel writers, blogs, etc to reach out and promote our upcoming Advocacy Journeys abroad. The next trip will be to Thailand in November 2016. Please note that this position is in NYC. The intern will report to the Director of Development And Partnerships. Apply to info@ecpatusa.org
For more background information on our Advocacy Journeys: ecpatusa.org/journeys Our Advocacy Journeys give travelers an educative perspective about the issue of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, along with sharing the inspiring work being done on the ground to combat it. These journeys focus on how the travel industry fights trafficking, and how tourists can Travel for Good. Travelers will also get to explore the culture and history of the country, along with optional excursions. A portion of the registration costs from the trips help support ECPAT-USA’s work, along with other local anti-trafficking groups working on the ground.

Development
The Development Intern will assist ECPAT-USA staff in all aspects of donor communications, donor and corporate research, database management, special events, marketing, communications, and other projects as needed. The intern will report to the Development Associate.
Responsibilities:
    • Help implement resource development strategies to meet ECPAT’s growth objectives
    • Undertake prospect research to effectively identify new funding streams and revenue sources
    • Assist with special event planning
    • Support the implementation of a marketing and communications strategy
    • Regularly update and upload foundations/corporation/individual donors into database
    • Other duties assigned
    • Qualifications:
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal presentation skills
    • Proficiency in research and admin, can prioritize effectively
    • Strong background using Excel
    • Some experience in marketing and communications, along with social media platforms

Youth and Education Development Intern
Position Description:
The Youth and Education Development Intern will work with our State Policy and Youth Coordinator to support ECPAT-USA’s efforts in developing and engaging the school community in anti-trafficking education and prevention efforts. Most efforts will be focused on making additions to our youth toolkit for middle schools and high schools, creating relationships between ECPAT-USA and key stakeholders in the Education sector, fostering relationships between ECPAT- USA and the United Nations, and developing projects for our Youth sector.
Responsibilities:
    • Identify and create relationships with high schools and middle schools throughout New York City
    • Create and design informational and promotional materials
    • Develop content for ECPAT-USA’s website
    • Create database of schools and organizations interested in the youth initiative
    • Accompany State Policy and Youth Coordinator to schools to present on anti-trafficking efforts
    • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or Human Rights-related field; Masters degree preferred
    • Strong commitment to youth empowerment and children’s rights
    • Eagerness to be creative and take initiative on new ideas and projects
    • Strong organizational skills
